PhotoBingo Rules

  1. A PhotoBingo game has a specific start time and end time. Games can be public or private, and can last hours, days, or even weeks. You can join a game any time before it's over. You win by getting the most points in the game.
  2. First choose your game, then click "Play" to get your card. PhotoBingo will generate a 4x4 card, with each square assigned a random "who", "what", "where", or "when" tag.
  3. Each game defines a "call interval", such as 15 minutes. Each interval, PhotoBingo calls a tag chosen randomly from its database and display it in the "call box" at left. Preference is given to newer photos, so upload as many as you can to Storymill or other participating sites to increase your chances of winning. Tidepool makes this very easy.
  4. Called tags get put into your "call board" below your card. These are the tags you can match. If your card has a called tag, simply click it to make a match.
  5. When you match a square, you get 10 to 40 points for it, with higher points going to tags that are harder to match. Difficulty is determined by how often tags appear in the database. Tags attached to many photos are easier.
  6. You can do a "mulligan" (do-over), by clicking "Mulligan" and then clicking the square you wish to replace. Mulligans cost the match points for that square.
  7. When you have four squares matched in a row, column, or diagonal, click the Bingo button to get a bonus of 200 points. Remember, in this bingo, it's all about getting points. Click "Play" again to get another card.
  8. You can also cancel your card by clicking "Forfeit", though this will cost you 200 points. Forfeiting is sometimes a good idea, particularly if your card is going nowhere.
